At the March 5 School Board Meeting, the Board unanimously approved the names of both the New Elementary School in North Redmond and the New Elementary School in Redmond Ridge East, which will open in fall 2018.

Through partnerships with Lake Washington Schools Foundation, Lake Washington School District has established a District Innovation Program. It makes funding available to schools to implement innovative ideas. The goal is to celebrate and recognize innovative programs in our schools

Steps to becoming a LINKS Mentor

Interested applicants must complete the Lake Washington School District Volunteer Application Packet and be approved by the District before beginning their service.
  1. Print and complete the Volunteer Application Packet
    Complete all of the required information and include your email address to receive notification of approval.
    • The volunteer application packet is now a fillable PDF. Please be sure to save the document to your computer before you submit it to the district for processing.
  2. Print and complete the LINKS Volunteer Form
  3. Thoroughly read the Volunteer Handbook
    When you sign your application, you are agreeing to the guidelines and expectations outlined in the handbook.
  4. Attach a copy of your driver’s license or other legal photo identification to your application
    The application requires a copy of your driver’s license or other photo ID that includes your legal name, date of birth, height and weight. This information helps to verify your identity in the background check process. The school can make a copy of your photo ID for you.
  5. Submit your application
    Turn in your completed application to the district Resource Center. You can also scan and email an electronic copy to, or mail a hard copy to the district office at P.O. Box 97039, Redmond, WA 98073-9739.
  6. Attend a LINKS Mentor Training
    Contact Chris Robison at 425-936-1270 or email to register for an upcoming meeting. We offer daytime and evening sessions. Directions to the Lake Washington School District Resource Center are on the LWSD website.
  7. Volunteer placement
    Once your application has been approved, contact Chris Robison at 425-936-1270 to discuss potential volunteer opportunities.

Approval process timeline
When all of your volunteer application materials have been received, the school district will perform the background check through the Washington State Patrol System. The approval process can take up to two weeks from the time you submit your application. If you provided an email address on your application, you will receive an email confirmation when your application has been approved.
