Two students from International Community School took on the topic of gender equality in a recent essay contest. It paid off for both of them as Julia Lee and Santoshi Pisupati took home second and third place, respectively.
These groups provide input on major issues or decisions facing the district. They often include a mix of parents, community members, and staff members, such as principals.
College & Career Readiness Task Force - Analyzes and makes recommendations regarding options for grades 9-12.
Dyslexia Advisory - supporting reading for all students
Long-Term Facilities Task Force - Recommends long-term facilities strategy to the School Board. Report recommendations, accepted by the board in November 2015, became the basis for a planned set of bond measures.
Multi-Tiered System of Supports - Develops and recommends a Multi-Tiered System of Supports framework for Lake Washington School District. The framework will include evidence-based practices and data-driven decision-making processes to meet the academic and behavioral needs of all students.
School/Home Communications Task Force - Explores best practices in school communication with families.
School Start Time Advisory - Reviews potential school start time options, continue to engage stakeholders in input and feedback processes, and will ultimately make a recommendation for school start and dismissal times.
