Police Chief for a Day – a first grader’s dream come true

Bryce Stubblefield, a first grade student at Twain Elementary School, wants to be a police officer when he grows up. And his dream is about to come true! The City of Kirkland Police Department chose Bryce to be their 2018 Police Chief for a Day.

Mead gives back to the community and connects families

Mead Elementary PTSA hosted a used book and clothing fair during the week of January 22, and a pancake breakfast on Friday. Students, parents, teachers and community members donated 5,419 books. The fair earned $1,100 for the school and provided teachers with 1,000 books for their classrooms.

Gifted Education Advisory Council

The Gifted Education Advisory Council (GEAC) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization started in 1989 to support parents, students and educators in the Lake Washington School District highly capable community, including the LWSD Quest program. GEAC works in coordination with the LWSD and the highly capable community, similarly to how a PTSA serves your local neighborhood school.

GEAC membership consists of families in the LWSD highly capable community. The mission of GEAC is to support the unique needs of highly capable students enrolled in the Lake Washington School District. We approach this mission through outreach, enrichment, education and advocacy. Learn more on the GEAC website.
