Teacher Instructional Assistants

File: IIBA

To assist the professional staff in providing better instructional services to students, the district may provide the services of school aides, instructional assistants, volunteers, and professional trainees who shall be under the supervision of the professional staff. Auxiliary personnel shall not substitute for professional staff in the performance of professional duties and responsibilities. The district recognizes the complexities of systems for differentiating the instructional staff; however, the potential for improvement in the service to children is so great that efforts to organize and utilize auxiliary personnel shall be made with as much care and staff involvement as possible.
