Meals for K-5 Elementary Students Returning to In-Person Learning

In-Person meals information

All K-5 elementary students attending in-person classes will receive a free lunch for consumption at school. Please complete the meal survey in Skyward Family Access to indicate the type of meals that you prefer your student to receive, or if you want to opt-out of receiving free meals. Instructions for completing the survey can be found here | Español. If you do not complete the survey, your K-5 in-person student will automatically receive a main entrée meal (may contain meat).

The survey will remain open for the remainder of the school year and you can change your response at any time (please allow 1-2 days for any changes to take effect).

Who should fill out this survey?

This survey form is for current K-5 elementary in-person learning students only. Filling out this survey and electing to receive meals through this form will provide your student one free lunch for consumption at school (you only need to fill out this survey once).

Can I still receive meals for the weekend and days my student is not at school?

Additional meal bags (for days that students don’t attend in person classes and weekends) can be ordered on the LWSD website and can be picked up on Wednesdays from our six middle school “Grab and Go” locations or 11 bus stop locations. The Wednesday meal bags will include the following:

  • In-person grades K-5: Lunch for three days and breakfast for seven days

Why will my student be receiving a free meal?

As many of you may be aware, LWSD is currently operating its nutrition services program under several nationwide waivers put forth by the USDA. These waivers allow all children (ages 1-18) in the community to receive FREE meals through our program. Students are eligible to receive 14 meals weekly (seven breakfast and seven lunches). Nutrition services is committed to providing meals to all eligible children whether they are attending in-person classes or in a remote learning model.

Meals will be provided daily to in-person students and consist of a consumable lunch. Each meal meets USDA requirements and our weekly menu offers a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables and milk to complete the daily requirements. Meals will be delivered daily to the elementary school locations, where students will be given their meals to consume at lunch time during the school day.

What if I change my mind and want to modify my election?

You may revisit the survey at any time to change your meal selections and opt-in/out (please allow 1-2 days for any changes to take effect). Keep in mind you do not need to order daily for your in person learning student. Your elections made in this survey will allow your student to continue receiving (or not) a lunch when in person through the end of the school year unless you revisit this page to change your elections via the survey.
