June 14 community event will celebrate wellbeing

Redmond, Wash. – Lake Washington School District (LWSD) invites staff, families, and the broader community to its inaugural Wellness Fair on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the L.E. Scarr Resource Center (16250 NE 74th Street, Redmond, WA 98052).

First sport to be added since 1999

Redmond, Wash. – On April 21, 2025 the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) Representative Assembly officially sanctioned Girls Flag Football. This is the first WIAA sport to be added since Girls Bowling in 1999.

Last school year at Redmond Elementary, a simple visit from the grounds crew turned into an unforgettable adventure for one curious first grader named Arijit. From the moment the Lake Washington School District (LWSD) grounds crew arrived, Arijit was captivated. Not just by the rumble of machinery and the whir of tools, but by the possibility of learning how everything worked.

Franklin Elementary students get “Kraken”!

Students at Franklin Elementary were recently treated to a special visit from two members of the Seattle Kraken organization. Kraken center Frederick Gaudreau, and the team's beloved mascot, Buoy, spent an afternoon visiting select classrooms.

The Holocaust Center for Humanity was proud to announce Jenai Sheffels, teacher at Tesla STEM High School, as the 2025 Dee Simon Teacher of Excellence Award recipient. This annual award recognizes educators who inspire students to think critically, act with compassion and take responsibility for building a more just and humane world.

On October 7, Muir Elementary School was transformed into a vibrant hub of hands-on learning as volunteers came together to build a new Outdoor Learning Lab. This inspiring initiative was made possible through a partnership between the Seattle Seahawks, Monolithic Power Systems and OutTeach, a national nonprofit dedicated to turning outdoor spaces into dynamic learning environments.
