To provide videos and posters for use by elementary Green Teams, the LWSD Career and Technical Education program hosted the CTE Sustainability Video & Poster Challenge.
Dr. Jane Stavem serves as Chief Executive Officer. She provides strategic vision, leadership and direction to Lake Washington School District. Dr. Stavem is a skilled education leader with 28 years of experience in public education. On August 1, 2018, she became Lake Washington School District’s 12th superintendent.
Dr. Stavem came to Lake Washington from Lincoln Public Schools in Lincoln, Nebraska. There, she served as the Associate Superintendent for Instruction, overseeing nine departments and supporting a rapidly growing district of 41,000 students in the Capital City of Nebraska.
Dr. Stavem started her career in St. Paul, Minnesota where she taught K-6 music, fifth and sixth grades, gifted education, and served as a building curriculum coordinator. In 2001, she returned to Nebraska and assumed the roles of Elementary Principal and Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Columbus Public Schools, and Superintendent of Blair Community Schools in Blair, Nebraska.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Bethel University, a Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from Bethel University, an administrative licensure degree from St. Mary’s University, and a doctorate in educational administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
During her tenure, Lincoln Public Schools launched a new Career Academy, a three-year technology integration plan providing a one-to-one environment for students in grades 3-12, and numerous collaborative partnerships supporting innovative teaching and learning initiatives. She was instrumental in redesigning three alternative schools to more effectively serve students in grades PreK-12 with significant behavior needs.
Dr. Stavem is a published author in the area of student mobility, and provides ongoing training for schools to develop consistent transition plans and practices. She was recently named as one of Lincoln’s “Inspiring Women” and is a frequent speaker and presenter at local and national conferences.
