As we greet the second half of the 2018-19 school year, we have big things happening that serve to position our district for future growth.

Community Engagement & Strategic Plan Update
During the months of January and February, we’ll be convening a representative group of community voices to provide feedback as we update the district’s current Strategic Plan. The group will provide recommendations for the Board of Directors to consider related to current goal areas:

  • Achievement
  • Technology and Innovation
  • Safety & Security
  • Recruit, Hire, & Retain Highly Effective Staff
  • Facilities & Finance
  • Community Engagement

Capital Projects Levy – April 2019
Lake Washington will bring a levy to the voters in April and we’ll be providing information in a variety of ways to help convey the ongoing needs of our district. As our communities continue to grow and thrive at a rapid rate, our district will continue to have space needs for additional students. We must also attend to aging facilities and existing overcrowding. These needs require that we continue to use funding mechanisms designed for those purposes – levies and bonds.

Our website will include information related to the current levy proposal and we hope to speak with groups and organizations throughout the district to make sure that everyone in our community is well-informed about the importance of this levy. Please contact Diane Jenkins, by email djenkins@lwsd.org or by phone 425-936 1257, if you would like to schedule a presentation for your group or organization.

We have an amazing district and our commitment must be to provide the best education possible in the best places for students to learn!

Planning for the Future
Our highest commitment is to ensure academic achievement for all students. As we plan for the future, we do so with a lens on equity, opportunity, and inclusion. We want to make sure students can access everything they need to explore their interests, maximize their talents, and make connections that equip them for their future.

Lake Washington School District is one of the most successful districts in Washington, and we want to continue building on that success to be THE BEST DISTRICT in the nation and the world. To do that, we will continue the relentless pursuit of excellence in our classrooms, strong connections with our communities, and shared commitment for ongoing innovation and improvement.

Looking forward to a great 2019!
