Policies

Students who reside within the boundaries of Lake Washington School District shall be released to attend school in another district when requested by a parent/guardian when one or more of the following conditions exist:

  1. A financial, educational, safety, or health condition affecting the student would likely be reasonably improved as a result of the transfer; or
     
  2. Attendance at the school in the nonresident district is more accessible to the parent's place of work or to the location of childcare; or
     
  3. There is a special hardship or detrimental condition; or
     
  4. The purpose of the transfer is for the student to enroll in an online course or online school program offered by an online provider approved under RCW 28A.250.020.

A student seeking release shall follow the Choice Transfer process outlined in policy 3141.


Release of a student by Lake Washington School District does not guarantee acceptance by another district.  


In accordance with RCW 28A.225.290, the District provides online access to the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction's information booklet outlining parents' and guardians' enrollment options for their children.
