Lake Washington is a recognized leader in sustainability practices and education. Schools around the district encourage students to actively participate in sustainable practices with special events in April to celebrate Earth Day on April 22.
Student Transportation Services
The board authorizes the establishment of a transportation department whose purpose is to:
- Provide the necessary, safe, and efficient transportation of children to and from school within the limitations set by statute,
- Provide other necessary transportation services for curricular and extra-curricular activities,
- Engage in advance planning through the best possible budget procedures,
- Maintain a fair and equitable system of student discipline,
- Comply with the current transportation regulations of the Office of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, and,
- Authorize the transportation department to manage the criteria for determining acceptable walking and riding conditions.
