The school year shall provide 180 days for students. The school calendar shall be developed by the superintendent and approved by the board. 

Any days that the schools are closed for emergency reasons shall be made up at the end of the school year or during recess periods, as approved by the board upon the superintendent's recommendation with concurrence from the Lake Washington Education Association. 

The School Day 

The length of the school day shall be recommended by the superintendent and set by the Board, and shall be in keeping with state requirements. 

The particular opening and closing hours for schools shall be also subject to board approval. The administration is authorized to make minor changes in opening and closing times to facilitate the scheduling of transportation; however, major changes in schedules shall be subject to board approval.
