Policies

The Board of Directors expects the superintendent to involve the district in long- and short-range planning, significant research and evaluation for the various functions of the school district. 
 

The superintendent is authorized, within budget resources, to employ the necessary personnel, contract with outside agencies, organizations, or individuals and utilize government and private grants in the development of programs that shall serve the best interests of the district for the present and future. 
 

Accountability for Providing Students with Basic Instructional Program  

The board has responsibility for maintaining the program of instruction guaranteed by the state statutes and providing enhancements where necessary. 
 

The officers and employees of the school district are responsible for maintaining the program of instruction in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the state, the acts of the legislature, the rules and regulations of the State Board of Education, and the rules and regulations of the Board of Directors. 
 

The superintendent shall provide principals and teachers with curriculum materials covering all instruction approved by the board. 
 

In order to assure compliance with the basic skills, work skills, and course requirements, the superintendent shall implement procedures for verifying compliance at the beginning of each school year and for monitoring of compliance throughout the year. 


Accountability for Accreditation of High Schools

An accredited school is a public or an approved private school that meets all statutory provisions for schools in the state of Washington and all regulations for accreditation established by the State Board of Education.
 

The District aims to maintain high quality educational services in all Lake Washington schools. As such, high schools in Lake Washington will seek the highest accreditation status through an approved accrediting agency in the state of Washington.
