    Stephen Bryant, DirectorStephen Bryant | Director of Professional Learning

    Mr. Bryant provides leadership for the development and implementation of professional learning systems for both certificated and classified staff. He collaborates with district leaders, school principals and teams to develop professional learning for staff focused on increasing student access and engagement, closing achievement and opportunity gaps, supporting student learning and success, and enhancing staff productivity and efficacy. Mr. Bryant collaborates with the Human Resources department to assist with systems and processes to ensure appropriate onboarding, orientation, and training for new employees. He assumes responsibility for the district’s New Teacher Support Program, Professional Learning Coach program, manages student teacher placement processes, and develops relationships with university and community partners to support staff learning.

    Ms. Kadrmas provides leadership for the development and implementation of accelerated learning programs and services including: Early Entrance Kindergarten, Highly Capable, Honors, Advanced Placement and College in the High School. She collaborates with district leaders, school principals and teams to ensure that services and programs increase student access and engagement, close achievement and opportunity gaps and support student learning and success. Ms. Kadrmas provides oversight of established district processes and policies pertaining to choice schools, and provides leadership and technical assistance in the request for proposal (RFP) process. She collaborates with district and school leaders in the identification, development, and implementation of innovative programs in alignment with district policy and oversees district summer school.

    Ms. Oremus provides leadership to ensure that every student has access to rigorous and relevant career-connected learning that prepares students for post-secondary success and access to high-skill, high-wage, and in-demand jobs. She assumes responsibility for developing relationships with community, business, and higher education partners to collaborate with the district in developing and implementing offerings that increase student access and engagement, close achievement and opportunity gaps, and increase student learning and success. Ms. Oremus provides oversight of the High School and Beyond Plan and school-based Career Centers and Specialists, Career and Technical Education (CTE) program development and compliance, Sustainability Efforts and the Washington Network for Innovative Careers (WANIC) Skill Center, for which Lake Washington serves as host district.

    Ms. Pease provides leadership to ensure success for students receiving academic interventions, services to help students acquire English language proficiency, services for Native American students, and services designed to help mitigate the effects of poverty on student learning and success in school. She supports efforts focused on ensuring academic success for every student by collaborating with district leaders, school principals, and teams to develop tiered instruction to increase student access and engagement, close achievement and opportunity gaps, and support student learning and success. Ms. Pease assumes responsibility for district and school compliance with federal Title I, Part A and Title III of the federal Every Student Succeeds Act.

    Dr. Rose provides leadership the district’s adoption and implementation of standards-based teaching and assessing. She oversees the implementation of state student learning standards and the adoption, development, integration, and implementation of curriculum aligned to standards. Dr. Rose ensures staff participation, parent involvement, and community engagement in the processes pertaining to the adoption of instructional materials that increase student access and engagement, close achievement and opportunity gaps, and support student learning and success. She provides oversight of technology integration to support teaching and learning, manages textbook inventory processes, and provides oversight for district elementary music and physical education programs and staffing.

    Special Services

    Dr. Shannon HitchDr. Shannon Hitch | Director of Special Services

    Dr. Hitch provides leadership for the development, implementation, and management of district services and programs for students with special needs, including students with Individual Educational Programs (IEPs) under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) qualifying for specially designed instruction and students qualifying for accommodations under Section 504 of the federal Rehabilitation Act. Dr. Hitch assumes responsibility for ensuring successful collaboration between parents, school teams, and district teams to ensure that free and appropriate public education is provided for qualified students. She provides oversight of district special education services, 504 services, health services, district preschool, and birth-two programming. Dr. Hitch serves as the district’s section 504/ADA coordinator, monitoring and coordinating the district’s compliance with matters pertaining to the Americans with Disabilities Act.

    Kim Brenner

    Kim Brenner | Associate Director of Early Learning

    Ms. Brenner works in collaboration with the Director of Special Services to provide leadership and direction for early learning programs within Lake Washington School District. She is responsible for the daily operations and management of district-wide special education preschool, Head Start, our tuition based preschool program and SNAPS (extended day for students with autism) and will oversee the Early Childhood Center program opening at Old Redmond Schoolhouse next year. She directs the Lake Washington preschool Childfind process and works collaboratively with Birth-to-Three agencies such as Kindering Center and Wonderland.  Ms. Brenner works collaboratively with parents, staff and community members concerning early childhood programs, special services, and procedures.

    Ms. McCrath works in collaboration with the Director of Special Services to provide leadership to ensure success for students receiving special education and 504 services in the Eastlake and Redmond Community, Secondary Schools. She supports our Adult Transition Academy in Redmond, which provides programming for students ages 18-21.  She supports efforts focused on ensuring academic success for every student by collaborating with district leaders, school principals and teams to increase student access and engagement, close achievement and opportunity gaps, and support student learning and success. She works collaboratively with families and supports communications and conflict resolution efforts. Ms. McCrath coordinates district Section 504 services and provides support for school psychologists.

     

    Michelle Tiegs

    Ms. Tiegs works in collaboration with the Director of Special Services to provide leadership to ensure success for students receiving special education and 504 services in the Redmond and Eastlake Community, Elementary Schools. She supports efforts focused on ensuring academic success for every student by collaborating with district leaders, school principals and teams to increase student access and engagement, close achievement and opportunity gaps, and support student learning and success. She works collaboratively with families and supports communications and conflict resolution efforts. Ms. Tiegs provides support for vision and orientation/mobility staff and extended school year (ESY).

     

    Paul Vine, Associate Director

    Mr. Vine works in collaboration with the Director of Special Services to provide leadership to ensure success for students receiving special education and 504 services in the Juanita and Lake Washington Community, Secondary Schools.  He supports our Adult Transition Academy in Kirkland as well. He supports efforts focused on ensuring academic success for every student by collaborating with district leaders, school principals and teams to increase student access and engagement, close achievement and opportunity gaps, and support student learning and success. He works collaboratively with families and supports communications and conflict resolution efforts. Mr. Vine provides support for occupational therapists (OTs) and physical therapists (PTs) as well as paraeducators.

    Ms. Wagner works in collaboration with the Director of Special Services to provide leadership to ensure success for students receiving special education and 504 services in the Lake Washington and Juanita Community, Elementary Schools. She supports efforts focused on ensuring academic success for every student by collaborating with district leaders, school principals and teams to increase student access and engagement, close achievement and opportunity gaps, and support student learning and success. She works collaboratively with families and supports communications and conflict resolution efforts. Ms. Wagner provides support for speech language pathologists (SLPs), Deaf and Hard of Hearing (interpreters, teacher of the deaf, audiologist), and Assistive Technology (AT) services.
