The Family Literacy Night at John Muir Elementary School was a big success. Families were able to enjoy literacy activities like fun tongue twisters, reading tic-tac-toe, a book fair and a book giveaway.
We believe that strong communities build strong schools, and strong schools build strong communities.
Here are some of the initiatives for 2020-21 in the area of Community Engagement:
- Partnered with organizations such as Nourishing Networks, Eastside Pathways and others to coordinate community supports during the pandemic
- Contributed weekly to communications sent to families by Noticas en Español to provide communication to Spanish-speaking families
- In addition, the Communications Department created a “Language Access Resources” webpage. This page shares information for families about the types of translation and interpreter services we provide, and who to contact if you need support.
"How clear has communication from school leadership been about the school's learning model?" 71% of classified staff & 61% of certificated staff said quite or extremely clear.
80% of family members say it is easy to get in contact with your child's teachers when needed & 73% say they are quite or extremely satisfied with the frequency of communication from teachers.
