Happy New Year Wilder Families!
We hope that 2012 is off to a great start for you and your children!
Ringing in the New Year is often a time of reflection of past accomplishments and making plans for the future. It’s been an extremely busy year already for the Wilder PTSA and we’d like to share just a few of the highlights so far:
- Launched a new weekly Wilder newsletter. This joint venture between Wilder Elementary School and Wilder PTSA has been overwhelmingly well received!
- At our annual welcome back to school brunch hosted for teachers and staff, each teacher received a $300 classroom grant. Others grants included: $1,850 Library, $500 Music, $2,000 Physical Education. For the second year in a row PTSA granted $1,000 each to the four teacher content teams in the areas of Math, Science, Technology and Literacy.
- Additional grants include: $10,000 to help with the costs of Field Trips (out of classroom and in-house educational experiences), $1,500 Wilder Scholarship Fund (helps support students in need), and $4,000 MSP/Academic Specialist (pays teacher stipends to assist small groups of students needing extra support in prep for MSP testing).
- A new Sound System purchased and installed in the Wilder Commons! Funding was provided by both Wilder ASB and PTSA. Our children can now be heard loud and clear!
- Art Docent, Math Adventures, Watershed, Classic Books and Birthday Books are off and running!
- An amazing fall Carnival with new catered BBQ and video game van added this year.
- Successful “Pass the Hat” fundraising campaign underway with a Basket Auction soon to come!
- Before and after school Enrichment programs are ongoing (with our second year of online registration). Enrollment has continued to trend downward in the past few years but with your support, our PTSA remains committed in our efforts to provide these valuable opportunities to our children.
- Successful Fall theater production “Princess and the Frog” and Winter musical “Seussical” yet to come!
- The PTSA sponsored Wilder WOLF PACK kicked off its first year with many new community service opportunities for your families! It includes the weekly supplying of 30 backpacks of food supplies to children in need in the LWSD through the Pantry Packs organization.
Wow! That’s quite a list with a lot more in store for the coming months! We appreciate all that you do as involved, committed parents to participate in PTSA and volunteer your time in the classrooms and at school events and activities! We wish all the best for you and your families in 2012!
