Information about the LINKS committee that is part of LWSD PTSA.

 Program Description

Become a LINKS Volunteer Today!

The Lake Washington PTSA Council works diligently to support all of the schools within our district by providing volunteer support to each and every school. LINKS is a committee within the LWSD PTSA Council. For those of you who are not familiar with LINKS, it stands for Looking Into the Needs of Kids and Schools. LINKS was formed three years ago by a small group of concerned parents who recognized the volunteer discrepancies between schools within our district. Over the last three years the number of volunteers that we have placed in the LWSD has grown and we expect it to continue to grow.

One of our goals is to increase the awareness of LINKS. In the past, we have done presentations to organizations like the Kiwanis, Rotary Clubs and retirement communities. We have also distributed information about the LINKS Program to local churches within the district. Our LINKS volunteers include retirees, high school students and parent volunteers who come from one school to help at another nearby. It’s a wonderful example of people helping teachers help their kids!

Please visit our website for more information.

If you know of someone who might be interested in working with kids for just one hour a week, please have them visit our website or contact us. Every volunteer will be asked to complete the Lake Washington School District Volunteer Application packet.

LINKS Mission

Our mission is to link volunteer resources to the needs of schools and students within the Lake Washington School District.

Who is LINKS?

LINKS was formed by parents and community leaders in the Lake Washington School District who recognized that many schools suffer because of the shortage of volunteers.

Volunteer Opportunities

School volunteer opportunities include lunch buddy, assisting with one-on-one reading and math, participating in the Art Docent program, assisting teachers with grading papers, helping in libraries, and general classroom assistance.

How to Volunteer

All interested parties will be asked to fill out a Volunteer Application and be approved by the Lake Washington School District.

Please contact Lisa Loomis if you have any questions.
