The Motor Skills and Wellness class will be taught by Mr. Larson, our physical education teacher at Wilder Elementary. Students will learn the skills and principles necessary for enriching their motor skills and wellness that lead to an active lifestyle. This is integral to a child’s development as it has the potential to improve key elements such as coordination, agility, self-expression, body awareness in a variety of mediums such as core strength, balance, endurance, flexibility and spatial awareness. All of these establish a basis for the maintenance of fitness throughout life. Increased fitness improves heart/lung function, reduces body fat and decreases the risk of diseases associated with an unhealthy lifestyle. In addition it enhances school moral along with appropriate class behavior because students feel great about themselves.
Students will go straight from their classroom to the gym at 3:30 pm where they will be supervised by a PTSA parent/volunteer until class starts.
