Debate teaches a number of life skills: listening, problem solving, arguing tactics, public speaking, research, responding effectively, teamwork and many more. Throughout this class the students will have an opportunity to try all these skills as well as learning from examples of some of the best orators in history.
All students are required to participate in debate night. The debate topics will be decided at the beginning of the session but each team will not know which topic they will debate on the final night. The students will have plenty of opportunity to discuss, argue and become familiar with all the topics before the final debate.
All classes are taught by Norman Alston.
Debate night is Tues, Nov 15 at 7pm. Students will be expected to arrive at school at 5:00PM to be given their topics and their roles and to put together their arguments with their teams.
