Art for Kids School will again be offering after school art classes at Wilder Elementary for the Winter 2012 semester. These are ongoing classes, open to new and returning students, and projects are not repeated. The program is process oriented and designed to enhance your child’s enjoyment of art and creative expression. The emphasis in the program is to acquaint children with various materials, and to develop skills, thereby enhancing their self-esteem in regard to their creativity (in a technique-based, sequential learning program, similar to piano lessons). Children will have an opportunity to explore their creativity through a variety of materials including pen and ink, watercolors, acrylics, pastels, clay, and plaster. Drawing techniques are incorporated in these classes as well as painting and sculpting techniques. Classes will be taught by a professional, degreed artist.

Classes will take place after school from 3:40–4:40pm (ages 5–8) and 4:55–5:55pm (ages 9–12). The Winter 2012 semester begins January 9, 2012 and continues through June 11, 2012. Please note a commitment is required for the entire semester. Two payment options are available—payment in full of $237.50, or 3 equally divided payments of $79.17 (this works out to be $12.50 per class). Additionally, there is a $5 registration fee. Registration ends January 8! Registration after this date will incur a $10 late fee, rather than $5. Classes are small and prompt registration is essential to reserve a space!
