Volunteers Wanted!
Volunteer [vol-uhn-teer] A person who voluntarily offers himself or herself for a service or undertaking.

Did you know that all PTSA programs and activities are made possible by dedicated volunteers who run and staff our many committees? There are still many open committee positions for 2011-2012. Without a committee chair, these programs cannot run. If you are interested in taking on an open committee position, please e-mail Volunteer Coordinator Cindy Hopwood at SealVolunteer@hotmail.com.

Book Dedications
Book dedications are the way our PTSA shows thanks to volunteers and supporters. Did you know you can find the actual dedications inside the front cover of books in our library?
 

 Immediate Volunteer Needs

 


Awards Committee  
PTSA Awards Committee is now being formed!  This committee of 2-3 individuals solicits nominations for the PTSA volunteer recognition program.  The committee will also plan the annual Awards Reception. 

Wellness Team needs you! Please contact Cindy Hopwood at sealvolunteer@hotmail.com for more information.

  • Leader and volunteers for May: Bike, Walk, and bus to school month
    The Wellness team is looking for a leader and volunteers for May: Bike, Walk and bus to school month.
  • Fitness Fun: leader and team. This program needs a leader (or co-leaders) and team members. Great for individuals wishing to add to resume with past event or program planning experience. Estimated time commitment 2–3 hours per break (can be broken into smaller chunks)
  • Wellness board - designer, and educator.  Great for someone with aesthetic design and interest in getting great information out to families/students.  Estimated time commitment 30 minutes monthly
  • Recess team members:  develop games and posters to be displayed on playground. Be a part of the team working with Lake Washington Fitness interns. Great for those in fitness industry or just interested in helping kids find fun things to do at recess with limited equipment.

Lake Washington Schools Foundation Ambassador
Throughout the Year, the Ambassador attends meetings at the District office and passes Foundation news onto the Sandburg/DCS Community.

 How Do I Volunteer?

 

Whether you have a lot of time to give or just a little, there are meaningful ways you can help. Here's how it's done:

  • Check out the Volunteer Opportunities to see what interests you. If you just want to be contacted when we need ‘extra hands’, provide us your contact information.

  • Review the Lake Washington School District (LWSD) Volunteer Handbook, and complete the LWSD Volunteer Application Packet.

  • Email SealVolunteer@hotmail.com and our PTSA Volunteer Coordinator will contact you to answer any questions you may have and help you get started.

  • For classroom volunteer opportunities, contact your student's teacher.

Don’t Forget When Visiting the School:

  • Check in at the main office
  • Sign the volunteer roster
  • Wear a nametag while you are in the building
  • Be sure to sign out when you are finished so that in case of emergency the office does not have to account for your whereabouts.
