I grew up in Chicago, Illinois when it was still the “Hog Butcher To The World.” (Carl Sandburg)
As a child I, I liked candy, swimming, summer, all local sports teams, my bike, Elvis, The Beatles (all those great British Bands!!), collecting cards and delivering papers.
I graduated from Northeastern Illinois University in 1976 with a BA in Ed., and an MA in Reading from Seattle Pacific.
I began teaching in 1977 in Chicago and taught in private and public schools for 10 years. I was hired to teach at Margaret Mead in 1997. I have taught at Helen Keller, also.
I have been at Sandburg since 1999 and have taught grade five until this year when I took a 6th grade opportunity.
Currently, I live in Kirkland, WA. I have two children, Loey, 18, who starts at Cascadia Community College this fall, and Spencer, 15, soon, who is in 9th grade at FHJH.
When I’m not in the classroom, I like to exercise (run, weights, biking), play guitar, compose, and sing. I love traveling, camping, cooking, gardening, art, theatre, READING –mostly non-fiction-listening to music, watching funny people/movies, and playing chess.
