Enrollment
As with all choice schools, students must apply to attend Renaissance.

Enrollment Process
Choice schools are open to all students in the district. Students must apply to be considered for enrollment in the school. Each choice school has its own application and enrollment process. These schools are small by design so there are enrollment limits. A lottery and/or wait list system is used to place students when applications exceed vacancies. Contact the choice school you are interested in for more information about the application process.

As a Choice School, all eleven elementary schools in the Lake Washington School District are potential feeder schools for Renaissance. The first students accepted are those in-district, and then out-of-district students will be accepted on a space-available basis.

If you have questions as to your child’s eligibility to apply to Renaissance, please contact our office at 425 836-6644.

General Information

Renaissance is open to any student in the Lake Washington School District. Students are chosen through an application, and lottery process should the number of applications exceed the number of vacancies. Applications assist us in getting to know prospective students and in planning the curriculum, rather than being a vehicle for excluding applicants.

The application process has three required elements:

  1. The 2009 Renaissance School Information Night will be held on Tuesday, January 13 at Eastlake High School auditorium, 7-9 p.m. This is a mandatory meeting for both parents and students and is the time when applications will be made available. 5th grade students and their parents are also welcome to attend.
  2. Application forms must be completely filled out and turned in on time. The last day application for September 2009 will be accepted is Friday, January 30.
  3. Please submit a copy of your student’s latest progress report or report card.

Completing these three steps enters the student into the Lottery.

Families who miss the deadline for the lottery may still apply; however, these applicants will be added to the waitlist after the lottery participants.

The Lottery Process

The 2009 Choice Schools’ Lottery is held at the Lake Washington School District Resource Center on Friday, February 6. The lottery randomly assigns a number to all applicants for our school. The first 30 names drawn are invited to accept a space at Renaissance. The remaining names are invited to remain on the waitlist in the order they were drawn. At any time, a family may elect to withdraw their acceptance which allows a student from the wait list to be contacted. All lottery applicants will be notified by letter mailed on Friday, February 13, 2009. Acceptance of a space, or willingness to remain on the waitlist, is due back to the Renaissance School office by Thursday, February 26, 2009.

For information on each of the 2009-2010 choice schools and other secondary school options, see the Secondary School Options booklet. This booklet provides a concise overview of all the secondary school options, focusing particularly on the school options that exist for current fifth and sixth grade students.
