  • Reason for absence.

The Safe Arrival Line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What if my child needs to take medication during school hours?
All medication to be administered must be accompanied by a Lake Washington School District Authorization to Administer Medications Form. This form must be completed by:

  • A parent or legal guardian and
  • A physician or dentist.

What happens when children injure their head?
Frequently students bump their heads during class and at recess.  It is the Lake Washington School District policy for office personnel to notify parents of any head injury.  A head injury form will be sent home with all students that bump their heads.

What are the general guidelines on illness?
Good attendance is encouraged for academic learning and for developing good habits. However, if your child is ill, allow him or her to remain home until the illness has run its course. A measure we use to determine illness is a temperature of 100 degrees or above. If this happens to a child at school, parents or guardians will be notified. Please be sure that your child is picked up as soon as possible.

What is the school policy on emergencies, illness or injury?
In the event of an emergency, illness or injury the school office will try to contact you from information listed on the yellow Emergency Information Card. Please be sure that your child ‘s emergency card is always up-to-date with your home and work phone number. Remember to include telephone numbers of nearby family or friends who can come for your child in an emergency. Students cannot be released to anyone unless they are listed on the emergency card.

What is the policy for dropping by the school to visit?
Parents of Rose Hill students and other visitors are welcome and encouraged to visit and volunteer in our school. We do request that everyone first check in at the school office, sign in and receive an ID badge to be worn while on our campus.

What is the tardy policy?
All students need to arrive on time.  The 8.25 am bell signals the start of school.  The 8.30 am bell is the tardy bell.    Any student who arrives late will be sent to the office for an “admit to class” slip. Students with medical appointments are considered excused.

When might the school close?  What happens?
In the event of fire, power failure, heavy snowfall or severe windstorm, parents are asked to stay tuned to your radio or television for information.  You can also either the LWSD website or our schools home page for information.

If the school is to be closed the decision and announcement will be made prior to 6.30 am.  In order to maintain open communication lines, please do not call the school.

When emergency conditions result in school schedule changes, the district will use one of the following plans:

  • No announcement means NORMAL SCHEDULE
  • Schools are CLOSED. All building activities are cancelled including school, before and after school activities, athletic events and parent meetings.
  • Late start and limited bus services.  Rose Hill will start two hours late, (10:30 a.m.) and bus routes will be limited. Quest and Morning Kindergarten classes are cancelled.
