A list of before and after school activities.
 

Rose Hill Elemenary is proud of offer lots of activities to enrich academic lives.  These are before and after school programs:

 

Extended day
This is a before and afterschool daycare program run by the Lake Washington School District.  The District is responsible for the program and both hires and supervises the staff involved.  The Extended Day Supervisor at Rosehill Elementary is Connie Gerde, cgerde@lwsd.org.  You are also welcome to contact the LWSD Extended Day office, (425) 882-8175, for more information.


Choir
Rose Hill Choir meets from mid-November until mid-February and is open to students in grades 3 through 6.  The choir performs for the Lake Washington Choir Festival in February along with other elementary, junior high and high school choirs in the Lake Washington Learning Community.  For further information contact Sue Hanson at (425) 822-9578 or suhanson@lwsd.org.


Orchestra
The Orchestra program is open to fourth, fifth and sixth grade students.  Orchestra meets before school at Rose Hill Junior High.  Students may choose to learn to play the violin, viola, cello or string bass.  The orchestra groups perform in a variety of concerts throughout the school year. Band
The Band program is open to fifth and sixth grade students.  Band meets before school at Rose Hill Junior High.  Students in fifth grade may choose to play the flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, or percussion.  Students in sixth grade can switch to the saxophone, if they choose.  Other instruments are welcome if the student has private lessons.  The band groups perform in a variety of concerts throughout the year.


Science Club
Rose Hill Elementary Science Club seeks to provide opportunities for students to practice the scientific method: write hypotheses, make observational drawings, collect data, and summarize results. Students K-6, will meet with a team of volunteers after school, Mondays 3:15 pm to 4:15 pm, for eight weeks. There will be two sessions of eight weeks offered. Scholars’ Club
4th, 5th, and 6th grade students who need extra support attend our after-school Scholars’ Club.  Our district, with additional federal funds, supports two teachers to accommodate more than 50 students and a school bus for transportation home.  Scholars’ Club meets from 3:00 until 4:15 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays starting October 5th 2009. Language Classes
Instructors from Seattle Languages International, offers tuition in several languages on Wednesdays, from 1.45 – 2.45 pm.  This is a PTSA sponsored program.  More details can be found here.


Art Wizards
“We are to drawing, what phonics is to reading”. This is a 7 week program offered on Tuesday afternoons at 3.10 pm.  The cost is $84 and includes all materials.
