Class Time: Wednesdays, 7:20-8:20 am
Location: Art Room, B101
Grade Levels: K-6
Tuition: $40 for each 4 Week Session
Class Size: Minimum 6 / Maximum 20

Session 5: Space
Are you a budding astronaut?  An adventurer who loves space exploration?  Then you’ll love our Space theme projects.  Each week, students will learn about real-life space exploration and build a new model related to the NASA space program.  Models include a satellite, the Discovery Shuttle, a centrifuge which astronauts use to prepare for the physical sensations of launch, a treadmill which astronauts use to stay fit in space, and a “space robot”.  During this unit, students will learn some of the science behind launching things into orbit, will hear about the most-distant man-made object in the universe, and discuss what it is like to be an astronaut in space.  Let Bricks 4 Kidz launch your imagination to outer-space and beyond!

Wednesdays: March 14, 21, 28, April 11

Session 6: Forces of Nature
Take cover because we’re about to take a trip through some wild weather!  This unit is all about the amazing and powerful forces of nature, as students explore the when, where, how and why of all kinds of natural phenomenon from tsunamis to whirlpools.  We’ll examine a map of the Pacific “Ring of Fire” where most tsunamis occur, view a diagram of the tectonic plates and learn how their movement creates earthquakes, define the area known as “tornado alley” in North America, find out what hurricanes are called in different parts of the world, and more.  These lessons are designed to improve your child’s understanding of the forces of nature, while taking care not to alarm.  Each week students build a new model that represents the motion of that particular weather or event, with a seat for a mini-figure to take in the action.

Wednesdays: April 18, 25, May 2, 9

Session 7: Sports
Explore sports ranging from gymnastics to biking, mini-golf to airplane acrobatics!  This unit is a great way to get “sporty” kids building and get LEGO® fans interested in sports.  Some lessons focus on the importance of physical fitness and different aspects of fitness, such as stamina and strength.  Other lessons describe the mechanics of the sport, such as the physics involved in golf and the components of a stationary bike.  But the best part for the students is the way the models move and the fun they have playing with them after they’re built - hitting a plastic golf ball with the mini-golf model, watching the gymnast spin around the bar and seeing the tiny airplanes spin around and around on the air show model.  Maybe they’ll be inspired to try a new sport, or build a model of their favorite sport!

Wednesdays: May 16, 23, 30, June 6
