I have cats! Many cats! My husband, Richard, and I have collected cats from various shelters. It’s a rather odd hobby, but cats are our passion (and how else do you fill an empty nest?). We have a son, Toby, who is pursuing his dream as a web designer in Los Angeles. Toby attended Dickinson, where Ms. Van Blaricom was his kindergarten teacher and Mr. Newport was principal. This is my 21st year in Lake Washington School District.
I’ve been exhibiting my watercolor, oil, and acrylic paintings in galleries and juried shows since I was 12 years old. I’ve participated in exhibits in Seattle, California, Arizona, and Toulouse, France. I’ve been commissioned by two authors to illustrate their works. One of my illustrations was published in New Yorker magazine! I love infusing visual arts into every part of the third grade curriculum. It’s exciting to see students’ insights come to life through their art work. I’m extremely pleased to be part of the creative, innovative, fun Rosa Parks staff and community.
