 Stop "Brain Drain" with Good Food

 

Eliminate Brain Drain and Fire Up your Child's Engine!
Speaker: Michelle Grinslade,  Director of Training,  LearningRx (Issaquah, WA)

5 Quick Tips to High Brain Performance:
     * Brainy Breakfast - High protein
     *Grazing is good!  Rule of two's: twice as often, 1/2 as much, chew twice as slow
     *Smart Carbs - brains love carbs that are served WITH protein & fiber
     *Bright foods!  High in flavenoids and antioxidants
     *Exercise - it's the "oil" of the brain - gets the good stuff to the brain engines

 

Sports Nutrition:
     *Relatively empty stomach
     *Fill up that tank with good energy earlier
     *1 hour or less till game time: fruits, breads, bagel, yogurt - water!
     *No heavy fats within 4 hours or 24 hours before a long competition
     *Lots n lots of water.

Omega-3 "good fat" sources:  seafood, flaxseed, lingonberries, pecans, hazelnuts, eggs, milk, cheese
