JME Construction Update
September 14, 2011
The outer walls for the buidling are completed and are being faced with brick and concrete. Drywalling has begun on the inside of the school. It is confirmed that we will not be able to move in over holiday break in December. But it might be sometime in the Spring. Pick up and Drop off continue to be in the "old" parking lot as normal. Bark chips, blacktop area, modified soccer field, and a play structure have been added to the playground.

The new school is going up! Framing has begin, starting on the south end where the gym and cafeteria will be. We also found out that pick up and drop off for the 2011-2012 year will be moved to the NORTH side of John Muir. Two of the portables will be removed this summer and those classes will be moved into the JME building.
February 10, 2011
Construction is underway! Drilling has begun for the foundation and to access the geothermal energy for heating the new school. The contractor has said to expect "above ground" construction - i.e. rebar, etc - starting next week.
January 15, 2011
A general contractor has been choosen and approved and construction is beginning. First steps are to do the deep drilling for the geothermal energy that will heat the new school. Things are on track and moving forward.
October 12, 2010
The new school site excavation work is now complete! The LWSD is now in the process of selecting the general contractor. Contracting firms have been invited to bid on the project. The general contractor for the project will be determined by November 1st and notice to proceed should be given by King County by December 1st. The LWSD is projecting substantial completion, meaning the school building part of the project should be done by around November 1st of 2011. Starting around January of 2012 they will begin the demolition of the current school and the development of our new playground. Tentative Construction Schedule
