What is a PTSA?
PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) is a partnership between parents and educators who strive to enhance student learning and enrich the lives of the students within the school. It is also a forum for parents to obtain knowledge and voice their opinions about what is happening in their school.

A common misconception about the PTSA is that all they do is organize fundraisers and school events. Fundraising is an important and integral part of the PTSA. The funds raised by PTSA help support many needed programs within the school. But, you don't have to like or be good at fundraising to participate in the PTSA. By being a member of and attending PTSA meetings you provide a voice as to how the funds that are raised should be spent within our school.

Your membership fee not only supports our local programs and helps us reach out to our community, but also helps the Washington State PTA and the National PTA to speak on behalf of our children for a better educational environment. Increased membership means a stronger voice will be heard by our state legislature. In order to accomplish this mission, PTSA needs you!  With one all-inclusive membership fee, you will become a member of the Horace Mann PTSA, the Washington State PTA and National PTA to advocate for children and education.

Because of the size of this organization, National PTA is able to partner with businesses and negotiate special discounts and other valuable benefits exclusively for PTA members including Southwest Airlines Vacations and T-Mobile, to name a few. When you make purchases from these companies, not only will you receive a discount, but National PTA will also receive a percentage of royalties from the sale.

In addition to membership benefits nationally, there are local benefits to joining a Lake Washington School District PTSA. Horace Mann PTSA is able to offer each of its members a free loaf of FRANZ bread from the Kirkland Franz Bakery Outlet located at 12642 NE 85^th St. in Kirkland.
