Horace Mann PTSA Presents
2011 Reflections Arts Contest
Theme: “Diversity Means...”
Each year, the National PTA Reflections Program challenges students to create art inspired by a specific theme. This week kicks off the Reflections Art Contest within the Horace Mann community. Our PTSA is sponsoring children from our school to participate in this annual national cultural arts competition.
We’d like to encourage every child from Kindergarten through 6th grade to use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own original art. Entries are judged on creative ability and interpretation of the theme.
Here is how the contest works:
-
Each PTA launches a contest at the local school level. All artwork is judged and a percentage of the entries will then advance to the District contest;
-
District entries are then judged in November and winners at the District level are then advanced to the State competition in January;
-
State winners are then submitted to the National competition
Participation in Reflections is organized by student age and grade levels. Student works are critiqued against others in the same grade division. This allows recognition and judging of artworks by appropriate developmental age and skill levels. The grade divisions at Mann Elementary are:
Only original works of art are accepted
