Class of 2010 – Culminating Project Information

Now that your Senior year is here, it is time to begin your Culminating Project.  In the past Senior Project was largely managed through Advisory class.  Although we no longer have Advisory, the Lake Washington High School staff is still committed to working with our seniors on this project.

All seniors will meet with their Project Advisors at 1:15 on the following Wednesdays:

September 23, 2009
October 21, 2009
December 16, 2009
February 24, 2010
April 21, 2010

**Be sure to bring all assignments that are due to each meeting with your Project Advisor!!!

Additionally, there have been some changes to the project itself. On this website you can find all of the documents that you will need to complete your project.  Additionally, you can find helpful instructions and information posted below!!!

To be able to start working on your project, you will need to decided whether you are doing the “Traditional” or “Alternative” Culminating Project.  You should have viewed a PowerPoint Presentation in Senior English during the 2nd week of school describing your options.

Alternative Culminating Project

ü  Complete your Portfolio Plan using the form below by September 23, 2009.  This document MUST be approved by your Project Advisor at your first meeting.

Traditional Culminating Project

ü  Complete your Updated Timeline & Project Proposal forms by September 23, 2009.  These documents MUST be approved by your Project Advisor at your first meeting.

Project Proposal Instructions…please remember the following:

  1. Your project must involve: (A) some sort of community service, or (B) be a possible future career/job that you are interested in getting some experience in.
  2. Your project must be a “stretch” and challenge you to accomplish something new.
  3. You will need to complete 60 hours on this project, so make sure what you are proposing includes enough depth for your teachers to clearly “see” that it will meet this requirement.
  4. Remember that you will need to pay for this project yourself.
  5. Try to envision what you will be presenting to us next spring when you fill out your timeline section of the proposal, and then plan the rest of the year backwards from that end goal so you can make sure you are able to complete your project on time.

**Many of you already completed a proposal in May 2009 through Advisory.  You may continue with this same plan if you wish.

Culminating Project Information Powerpoint Slides from the PowerPoint presentation that was given in all Senior English classes during the second week of school.  This information helps students learn more about the Traditional and Alternative Project Options.
