About Our Library
- Welcome to the Lakeview library! Classes receive weekly instruction as a part of their "specialist" time at Lakeview. Additionally, many students visit the library on their own to read, study, use the computers and relax. The school library program is directed by Sarah Jensen and assistant, Pam Jones.
Lakeview maintains a large collection with over 13,000 items including books, magazines, books-on-tape, reference materials including online databases, videos and a parent section. Our collection is constantly evolving with current materials to enhance the curriculum, Accelerated Reader program and for student reading pleasure.
We have ten computers for students to use during library class time, recesses and as needed throughout the day. Students use Destiny, our electronic catalog to search for books and access the Internet, as well as our district databases to search for information.
- Joining the Birthday Book Club is a great way to create a lasting memory for your family at Lakeview and endow the library with exciting new books. With a donation to the birthday book club during the month of your child's birthday (or summer half birthday), your son or daughter will select a new book to add to the Lakeview collection. A bookplate will be placed inside the cover dedicating the book in your child's honor. The book is then presented to the student so that he or she can be first to check it out before it is returned to the library collection for all to enjoy. A suggested donation is $20.00 per child. Donations will be accepted at any time throughout the year and can also be used as gifts for family, friends and teachers. While it's called the "birthday book club", a book endowment is a great gift to mark any occasion!
We will be holding a Scholastic Book Fair in the Lakeview Library in early October, during fall conferences. Come and explore (
or shop online) the large selection of books and find great reads (at great prices) for every person in your family. All of the books have been carefully reviewed and approved for young readers.
This is our main library fundraiser for the year.
The book fair is also a great time to volunteer on behalf of the library. It requires a good deal of "people power" each day to run and is a fun time to interact with the boys and girls. Cashiers will be needed before and after school, as well as one late afternoon/evening, to be determined soon. Please contact Mrs. Jensen at sajensen@lwsd.org or by calling 425.936.2600 if you are willing to help at the book fair.
