Getting your child to and from school
Student Drop Off and Pick Up
Page Image
Page Content
Please share this information with others who may pick up or drop off your child. It takes all of us working together to make this plan run smoothly.
Thanks for your help in keeping our students safe.
Parking is difficult and traffic congested during peak times so we highly recommend that your child walk to school or ride the bus.
Suggested Walk Routes
.
Students should arrive no earlier than 8:45am, go to the black top area by the playground, and line up quietly with their class. Students should not go into or through the building or office area prior to the start of school or when dismissed. Since there is no supervision, students should not play on the playground before or after school.
For our walkers:
We have adult and student crossing guards at:
State Street and NE 68th Street
NE 68th Street and 104th Avenue NE
NE 68th Street and 6th Street South
NE 68th Street in front of the school
For our drivers:
During peak traffic times from 8:30 to 9:00am and from 3:15 to 3:45pm the lot behind the gym is closed to all traffic. Designated drop off/pick up areas should be used exclusively. Thank you for your assistance with this critical safety concern. If you drive and wish to walk your child to the playground, please park in neighborhood streets or in the Houghton Center parking lot.
The bus chute on NE 68th Street is only for day care and school buses. If you drive your child to or from school please use the following authorized areas:
State Street Loop
Enter off State Street
Pull to the right curb
Remain in line and pull forward, following the car in front of you
Students should get out or into the car ONLY at the second set of steps where the signs indicate and on the curb side. A supervisor will be there to assist students.
Re-enter the through traffic lane and exit the loop
DO NOT LEAVE A PARKED CAR IN THE PICK UP LINE
Parking Lot off NE 68th Street
Note that vehicles may not park in the “do not park” areas, along the curb in front of the gym, or behind the gym.
Enter lot off NE 68th Street, drive around the circle to drop off/pick up area (begins in front of the gym).
Pull to the right curb where indicated
Remain in line and pull forward, following the car in front of you.
Students should enter or exit the car CURB SIDE ONLY where signs indicate. A supervisor will be there to assist students.
Reenter the through traffic lane and exit the lot by turning right onto 68th Street
During peak time (8:40-9:05am and 3:15-3:40pm) the area behind the gym will be closed to all traffic. Thanks for your assistance with the critical safety concern.
Additional suggestions:
Please do not idle your car while waiting in the pick up lines. If you need to assist your child in/out of the car, use the State Street location. If you need a visual of your child walking to the playground, use the State Street location.
