Honor Society News and Important Dates:
Last service hours must be turned in to Mrs. Conrick by Wednesday, 4/15.
April general meeting will be held Friday, April 17th, during homeroom. All members must attend.
Honor Society Initiation Ceremony will be held Tuesday, May 12th. It is a very important evening for members and their families. The initiation will be presented in the auditorium from 7-8:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served afterwards.
Wild Waves end of year field trip will be June 16th from 9:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. We need chaperones for the field trip to happen.
Honor Society Food Drive was a great success. We collected 5,440 pounds of food for Hopelink and the food bank was very appreciative of the donation. An extra thank you to Austen Chen and Genki Marshall who with the help of Mr. Conrick and Mrs. Todd organized the food drive. Amanda Wright, Honor Society Vice President, also worked very hard to make the food drive a success.
Mrs. Griffith and Mrs. Wright helped transport the food to Hopelink. Thank you!!
The school year is quickly coming to a close and with the initiation ceremony of honor society members in May, Mr. and Mrs. Conrick must look over the records of members. We are seeing members that have not met the HS expectations for grades, service hours, behavior and/or payment of dues. These members will soon be getting a letter explaining that they will not be allowed to be initiated this year into the National Honor Society. The letter must go home and be signed by a parent/guardian and returned to Mrs. Conrick by the due date.
If you have any questions or concerns contact Peter or Susan Conrick.
NHS End of Year Field Trip - CHAPERONES NEEDED
|
As you may know, this year we are planning on taking the Honor Society to Wild Waves on Tuesday, June 16. It should be so much fun! Based on our estimates, this means about 150 students will be attending. We will need 5 -6 chaperones to fulfill the LWSD requirements for adult supervision. Every parent or volunteer who chaperones a field trip needs to complete a volunteer application and be approved to volunteer, through the Communications department. The volunteer approval process can take up to two weeks to complete, so if you are not already cleared, we need you to get started on this asap.
There are a number of ways that you as parents can complete the application process. You can fill out an online form through Parent Access, which is the fastest way to get your applications submitted and processed. You can print a hard copy of the application from the district Web site and send it in to the address listed on the form. Hard copy applications are also available in the school offices. Community members can also complete the volunteer approval process by completing the hard copy application either from the Web site or from the school office. All applications must include a copy of the volunteer’s driver license, which is used in processing the background check.
This should be a fun and memorable day for your child and a suitable reward for their hard work this year. If you can help out on June 16th please contact either Mr. or Mrs. Conrick. |
