HONOR SOCIETY NEWS:

  • Second quarter service hours are due February 3, 2012!!!!!
  • $25.00 membership fee due March 30, 2012!!  Please make the check payable to Kamiakin Junior High.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Participate in Pearl Jam's forest restoration project 
Join Green Kirkland Partnership and Forterra at Crestwoods Park in Kirkland to help mitigate the impact of Pearl Jam's 2009 world tour. Volunteers will plant hundreds of trees and remove invasive blackbery plants. Pearl Jam fans are strongly encouraged to join this family-friendly event. There will be Pearl Jam trivia and volunteers can win cool swag donated by the band.
Date:  Saturday, February 11
Time:  10:00am - 2:00pm
Place:  Crestwoods Park (1818 6th St, Kirkland)
Directions:  From I-405, take the NE 85th St./WA-908 exit (exit 18) and go west towards downtown Kirkland.  Turn right onto 6th St (at traffic light at bottom of hill).  Continue straight onto 15th Ave. Turn right onto 5th Place. Turn right onto 18th Ave. Turn left onto 6th St. and park at the ball fields.
Equipment:  tools, gloves, and water provided.  Bring LUNCH and (optionally) your favorite gloves and a water bottle.  Dress for the weather and wear layers.   Suitable for:  Adults, teens and families.  MInors under the age of 14 years must be accompanied by an adult.  Youth 14 to 17 years should be accompanied by an adult, or bring a signed waiver form or a parent/guardian to sign you in.

Washing teachers' cars

  • Putting up and taking down the flags everyday (talk to custodians)
  • Picking up trash around the school (coordinate with custodians)
  • Plug in netbooks in classrooms each day
  • Work in cafeteria during lunch

 

 

NHS EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING MINUTES

 

January 6, 2012

Stocking Stuffer Report - 528 items were collected.  Thanks to all that contributed!

NHS dues must be paid by March 30th.  The cost is $25.00.

  • Fees cover the cost of affiliation with NHS,
  • the cost of certificates,
  • the induction ceremony, and
  • the end-of-year field trip.
  • Food Drive is coming up

    Meetings:

    • Next general meeting is December 6, 2011

    Stocking Stuffers Collection Drive:

    • Start Dec. 1st
    • End Dec. 14th
    • Enlist parent help (transportation)

    • Need 5 volunteers - can be used as CAPstone and 2nd and 3rd quarter service hours
    • Ninth graders have priority because of CAPstone
