Industrial Arts - Woods:

8th Grade (or 1st semester)

This course concerns learning woodworking, technology, and vocational skills. It will include craftsmanship, identifying tools, tool use and safety, and project planning. Students will expand ideas, learn to use various materials, how to do some steps of construction, and finishing projects.

CO2 powered car

Understanding concepts such as friction, air resistance, mass versus weight, and how they apply to a Co2 powered car.

Car rubric based on 5 factors, appearance, weight, speed, aerodynamics, and alignment.

Paper rocket

Understanding concepts such as pneumatic pressure, airflow over rudders, the advantage of spin and gyroscopic force.

Rubric based on appearance, distance, and design concepts.

9th Grade (or second semester)
