I was born and raised in Jamestown, NY. (A few famous Jamestownians are Lucille Ball, Roger Tory Peterson, and the members of the band 10,000 Maniacs.) I received a B.A in Dance from Mercyhurst College in 1998. For the next six years, I taught ballet, jazz, and modern dance in my hometown. During this time I also earned college credits from SUNY Fredonia in the areas of Mathematics and Education.
In June 2004, I moved to Tacoma, Washington to pursue my Masters in Education at Pacific Lutheran University. After receiving my Masters in August 2005, I accepted a math teaching position at Kamiakin Junior High. This school year is my seventh at Kamiakin. In November of 2010, I received my National Board certification in early adolescent (ages 11-15) math.
I currently live in Bellevue with my husband and four cats; Caleb, Iggy, Javier, and Nic. In my free time I enjoy running, hiking, listening to music, and watching CSI, Fringe, and Chopped. I am a vegan. This means that animal flesh and animal by-products are not part of my diet.
