Hi, my name is Sarah Brown and I truly love teaching Family and Consumer Sciences (the old "home ec") at Kamiakin Junior High. I enjoy activity-based learning, the challenging age group and the diversity at Kamiakin Junior High. For the 2011-2012 I will be teaching Consumer Life Skills (8/9th graders) and Foods and Sewing (7th graders). In addition to teaching I am the ASB advisor for KaJH. I am excited to start my 7th year at Kamiakin Junior High. Go Cougars!
I grew up in Enumclaw Washington and then moved to Richland when I was a junior in high school. I went to Central Washington University and graduated with a BS in Family and Consumer Science Education with a certification in Career and Technical Education. I completed my student teaching at Juanita High School and absolustly loved teaching. Now, I am an active member of the Career and Technical Education Advisory Committee and have served as the Advisory Coordinator. In the last five years I have been busy completing my Professional Certification through Seattle Pacific University and Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction. In addition to teaching at Kamiakin I have coached many sports such as basketball, track, volleyball and softball.
In my free time I enjoy traveling, hiking, cooking, baking, concerts, working out, sports (go hawks!) and snowboarding.
If you have any questions you may contact me by phone at (425.823.6750) or by email sbrown@lwsd.org. I will do my best to get back to you as soon as possible.
