The Teaching and Learning framework sets the foundation
Curriculum, standards and assessment shape the learning experience for students in our district. The Teaching and Learning Framework creates a student-centered learning environment that allows students a guaranteed and viable curriculum.
Teaching materials are selected through an adoption process
Reviewing and selection of materials is an ongoing process. Each year committees of teachers who are subject matter experts review standards, teaching practices and materials to teach with. Our goal is to provide the most up-to-date, research based and appropriate materials for children.
Technology tools in the classroom makes a positive impact on learning
Students and teachers alike have many technology tools available in the classrooms and libraries of our schools. When appropriately used the educational process is deeply enhanced by the use of technology.
Washington state defines learning standards for students by grade level
Grade Level Expectations (GLEs) provide detail about what students should know and be able to do by grade level. GLEs are aligned from kindergarten through grade 10 – so that parents, students and educators can see how skills and knowledge build from year to year. Grade level expectations are being developed for each content area.
