Meet Our Principal
Find out about Franklin's principal, Kim Fricke and our vice principal, Brady Howden

My name is Kim Fricke and I am so proud to be the principal of Ben Franklin Elementary School.  The students, staff and parents truly make this school a special place.  I am looking forward to our 2009-2010 school year!

For those who have not met me, let me introduce myself.  I was raised in Bellevue, WA and attended Western Washington University.  I received my B.A. in Special Education with an Elementary Education endorsement.  I completed my student teaching at Franklin Elementary and Woodridge Elementary School ten years ago.  Since then, I have taught multiple grade levels including Special Education.  I also spent time as a Literacy Coach and mentored teachers in the classroom.  I then received my M.A. in Education (Administration and Supervision) at California State University, Fresno.  With my administrative credential, I then worked as a Vice Principal at both the elementary and secondary level.  I have enjoyed each and every one of my educational experiences and am happy to be the principal at Franklin!

On a personal note, I live in the Kirkland area near all of my family.  I spend my spare time hiking, snowboarding, wake-boarding, camping and relaxing with my family and my dog, Cooper.

Franklin is an exceptional school in which learning thrives.  Our mission is for every student to be equipped with the skills to be life-long learners.  Our vision is that Franklin educators, families and community collaborate to provide a nurturing environment that inspires students to reach rigorous yet attainable social and academic goals.  Together, we can make this happen!

I look forward to our year here at Franklin.  If you ever have any questions or concerns please contact me.

Kim Fricke

Hello! My name is Brady Howden. This will be my sixth year at Ben Franklin as a fifth and sixth grade teacher. This year I will also be taking on the role of Vice Principal as I work towards obtaining an administrative certificate. I am excited at the opportunity to learn from Kim Fricke and work with Ben Franklin students, parents, and staff as I pursue this goal.

On a side note, I live in Redmond with my wife (Kendall), son (Colby), and daughter (Emily). We spend our summers traveling together as a family. When I’m not traveling I enjoy playing golf and supporting local sports teams.

I look forward to another great year at Ben Franklin. Go Eagles!

Brady Howden
