Parent Responsibilties

1.           Parents must participate in the development of a written student learning plan (WSLP) for each student attending. The plan will include a description of the specific learning goals and performance objectives and be tied to district overall goals and objectives for student academic achievement.

2.          The parent or guardian serves as the child’s primary teacher and is required to provide instruction in all subjects addressed in the Written Student Learning Plan (WSLP), supervise all learning activities and support instruction designated to take place in the FLC classroom.  The WSLP will be reviewed once a month by the teacher-advisor and progress reported to the parent.   Please note: Part-time students are required to create a WSLP for the classes they are enrolled in at FLC ONLY.

3.           Parents will document at least 20-25 hours of learning activities per regular five-day school week for each student. These hours may consist of those hours of instruction that are provided by FLC staff, those that are supervised by the parent/guardian and designated in the learning plan, and those that are spent participating in state and/or district assessments.

4.           Children will meet with certificated staff in the context of classes each week or consult weekly with a certificated staff member if not in a class where certificated staff teaches.

5.           Parents will complete and turn in an educational progress review every month that includes work samples and documentation of all learning activities.

6.           All children will participate in all state and district assessments, including the Dibels, MSP or HSPE.

7.           All Parents agree to support the FLC Partnership by volunteering 4 hours per month for teachers, the school library, childcare, study hall or other duties necessary to maintain a quality learning environment for all children.

8.            Parents of students in grades K-6 are required to be on site when their children are on site.

9.            Parents must sign a “Contract for participation” agreeing to the requirements of the program.

10.          Failure to comply with the responsibilities described above may result withdrawal of the child from Family Learning Center.
