 Biographical Information

Welcome! This year I will be teaching 6th grade Language Arts and Social Studies, although I have taught grades 7-9 Language Arts and Social Studies as well. I graduated for Linfield College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary/Middle Level Education and English. I received my Masters of Education in Instructional Technology and Learning from Portland State University and City University. This is my third year at Finn Hill Middle School. Prior to Finn Hill, I taught in the Lake Oswego and Shoreline school districts.

As a thirteenth-year teacher, I feel students excel best when immersed in reading, writing, discussion and vocabulary/grammar emphasis and when given an opportunity to connect themes and concepts to their personal experiences and past learning. A spirited, inclusive classroom (where students feel encouraged) is just as important to me as a teacher who promotes rigor, critical thinking, risk-taking and excellence in all students, no matter the task! Expect that your child will be challenged on a regular basis in a safe and fun environment! As a teacher, I constantly work to improve my practice and better the experience of all students in my classroom.
