I was born and raised in southern Arizona. When searching for a university I looked for an excellant Classical Languages Dept. (planning on majoring in Latin) and someplace where it rained alot. I chose the University of Washington and fell in love with the Northwest. I returned to Arizona to marry and to graduate from the U of A with a BA in Education and a Masters in Library Science. I raised my family in Arizona and taught 8 years at a middle school in Phoenix, but I always knew that I wanted to return to this area. Once my children were grown I accepted a library position in the Lake Washington School District, spending 9 years at Rush Elementary and have been here since 2002.
I chose to become a librarian because I love books. Little did I know how my field would evolve over the years. When I attended library school, computers were not even mentioned and now I can't imagine searching for information without one. I feel lucky that I appreciate technology every bit as much as I do books.
