 Elementary Band Instrument Choice Info

WHAT INSTRUMENT CAN I PLAY?

  • Trumpet, Cornet: Trumpets are somewhat longer than cornets, but play the same. These are the highest of the brass instruments. Players need a good sense of pitch.

  • Percussion: A percussionist doesn't just play the drums. There are many kinds of percussion instruments, such as Snare Drum, Melodic "mallet percussion" (Bells, Marimba, Xylophone), Tympani, and Triangle, and the list goes on and on. Students should learn to play them all! It takes much study to become a percussionist, as for any instrument.  There are limited instruments available, so we limit this section to 5.

We look forward to meeting and working with you!
