The National Junior Honor Society is an organization that recognizes students who reflect outstanding accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, citizenship, and character. NJHS events include running the annual food drive and school beautification.
Members of the Evergreen Junior High School Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society must maintain at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average for a minimum of three semesters, complete at least ten hours of community service per semester, and regularly attend the NJHS meetings. There is a formal induction ceremony for those who qualify in spring and an informal ceremony for those who qualify in fall.
Evergreen transitions to a Middle School Fall 2012, which will impact the NJHS.
In order to be eligible for National Junior Honor Society, students need to complete one year to have a cumulative GPA at Evergreen. This year’s seventh graders will be screened for eligibility in August, those who have a 3.5 GPA and above will be receiving an invitation letter in mid-August. They will need to complete the letter of application and turn it in by the first Friday of the first week of school. The applications will then be screen by a faculty advisory board and letters of acceptance will be sent out in September. The 2012-2013 year will be the only year with a formal induction in the fall.
