The mission of the Environmental Club is to help our school be “greener” and to learn ways to reduce our impact on the environment. Our goals/work projects this year will include activities with solar energy and learning what is happening with our solar panels, supporting the recycling at lunch and around the school, and working next door at Emily Dickinson to help keep the natural areas free from weeds and such.
We will meet after school each Tuesday from 2:30 until 4:00 in Ms. Benoliel’s room (room 133). To join, make sure you have paid the ASB fees and then show up at a meeting.
RECYCLE LIGHT BULBS! As an Earth Day Project in 2012, we became a Puget Sound Energy Light Bulb Recycling Station. This allows all of us to recycle Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs, and can be used by anyone at any time the school is open. Why is it important to recycle light bulbs? Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs contain mercury. Did you know up to 30,000 pounds (15 tons) of mercury contaminates our landfills each year? So come on down and recycle your used light bulbs and help the planet.
