Keypoints about the Application Process:
All Lake Washington School District students entering 6th grade are welcome to apply and must do so in the winter of their 5th grade year. We only accept lottery applications from students entering 6th grade. Any openings in the higher grades are filled from the active waitlist of students who submitted lottery applications for 6th grade openings.
Application is only open to students whose residence is within the Lake Washington School District boundaries.
Placement is determined solely by a blind lottery system so that all who apply have an equal chance to attend.
Those who are not admitted through the lottery process will be put on a wait list.
Steps in the Application Process:
1. Attend the EAS Parent & Student Information Night. The date for the EAS Parent & Student Information Night will be shown in the Announcement section on the homepage of the EAS website and is typically held during the month of January. The student applicant is expected to attend this meeting with one or both parents.
2. Complete all parts of the EAS Student Application Packet and deliver them to EAS by the application deadline. The application deadline date will be shown in the Announcement section on the homepage of the EAS website. The EAS Student Application Packet includes:
Application Part 1 (includes EAS Student and Parent/Family Agreements)
Application Part 2 - Student Information Form
Application Part 2 - Parent Statement Form
Application Part 2 - Student Statement Form
3. Following the lottery, those with lottery numbers in the admittance range must schedule and attend a Parent & Student School Tour. This is a required step prior to acceptance into EAS.
