Boys' sports include: Football, Tennis, Basketball, Wrestling, Track & Field, and Baseball. **Note: A fee is required to participate in sports.**
Orienteering
The EAS Orienteering team competes in local parks throughout the area. They develop skills in map-reading, landmark recognition, route selection, compass use, pacing, and contour lines. Students compete each week at levels that match their interests, comfort level and need for speed. The EAS team has consistently placed in the top three teams regionally.
Yearbook
The EAS yearbook is produced by EAS students with parent support. Students have the opportunity to use writing skills, graphic arts, photography, leadership skills, and computer expertise to produce the annual yearbook. Each book reflects the spirit of the particular student staff and represents the essence of the school, complete with extensive coverage of expeditions and projects.
Dances
EAS dances are organized and supported throughout the school year by the EAS PTO. EAS students can also attend dances at Finn Hill Junior High during the school year.
Drama
EAS students interested in drama are welcome to try out for the annual play offered at Finn Hill Junior High. Many EAS students have participated in the Finn Hill Junior High plays throughout the years.
Music (orchestra and band)
Students who are interested or currently participate in an instrumental ensemble may participate in Orchestra or Jazz Band at Finn Hill Junior High when program scheduling between EAS and FHJH permits. Participants in these groups must be approved by the Finn Hill band teachers.
Academic Games
A team oriented academic challenge game that tests the knowledge of academic trivia and presentation skills against other schools in the district.
Math Olympiad
A team oriented math event that tests student's computation, algebra and geometry skills. Puzzles and other exciting math games are presented throughout the competition as well as during practice.
Destination Imagination (DI)
Over the years, EAS students have periodically participated in Destination Imagination (DI). DI (www.dini.org) is an international creative problem solving program open to students from kindergarten through college. Teams of 5-7 students work throughout the school year to solve challenges with divergent thinking and teamwork -- both hallmarks of EAS. EAS teams have had success at Regional, State and International tournaments. EAS graduates have stayed involved through a Nature Vision sponsorship and compete for scholarships at the high school level.
