Overview of curriculum at EAS.
 

Core subjects at EAS include Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Math, Spanish, Art, Fitness and Health. 

Curriculum for 6th through 8th grade students is spiraled over three years.  9th grade curriculum is taught separately.

Subject material taught in Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Art are integrated around common themes.  The blocks of time dedicated to these classes are referred to as Integrated Studies blocks.  

6th through 8th grade students are divided into three multi-grade groups that rotate through Integrated Studies classes.  These multi-grade groups are referred to as Integrated A, Integrated B, and Integrated C.  9th grade students are grouped together in a single group (Integrated 9) for Integrated Studies.

Grades 6-8 (LWSD Level 3)
Standards outlined in the LWSD Curriculum Framework for Level 3 are met in a three-year cycling of connected themes.

Year A - Where Have the Salmon Gone and Why Should We Care?
Trimester 1:  What is a Watershed?
Trimester 2:  Puget Sound Basic Cultural and Natural History
Trimester 3:  Why Should We Care?

Year B - Becoming "U.S."
Trimester 1:  Becoming Myself; Becoming America
Trimester 2:  Becoming U.S.
Trimester 3:  Regions of the U.S.

Year C - Earth on Edge
Trimester 1:  Exploring the Edge
Trimester 2:  Extending the Edge
Trimester 3:  Pushing the Edge

Grade 9 (LWSD Level 4)
Standards outlined in the LWSD Curriculum Framework for the first year of Level 4 are met by 9th graders in the themed curriculum Pacific Rim and Global Connections.
