Multi-age Learning Opportunities
Grade levels are blurred in our family-like atmosphere; reflecting the learning, problem-solving and working relationships that occur in the 'real world'.

Classes: Our Students are placed in one of three classes based on their grade level in the Lake Washington School District. First and second grade students attend the Youngers class. The Middles class is both third and fourth grade students. Fifth and sixth grade students attend the Olders class. Children remain in a class with the same teacher over a period of two years.

Lunch and Recess Breaks: All of our students eat lunch and take breaks at the same time, mingling between classes on the playground and at lunch tables.

Triads: Three children, each from a different class, team up to complete project(s) through the year and accompany each other on field trips.

Little Brothers and Little Sisters: Each year, a student from the Olders class is paired with a student from the Youngers class to provide learning support  and guidance on how things are done at Community School.

Reading Buddies: Each student in the school is buddied up with a student from a different class to be reading buddies through the year. They read to each other one afternoon every week.
