My name is Mary Cronin and I’m the principal of Rachel Carson Elementary. I am extremely fortunate to have been selected principal of this new school. Being principal here is the best job a person can have; I get to work with the best teachers in LWSD, great children, fabulous involved parents, and a dedicated staff. Every day is new and exciting.
This is my eleventh year as a principal in the Lake Washington School District. I was principal at Ben Franklin Elementary in Bridle Trails for ten years, vice principal at Sandburg Elementary and John Muir, and a teacher for six years at Margaret Mead Elementary. Prior to moving to Washington, I taught six years in Long Beach, California. Before moving into education, I was a YMCA Program Director for eleven years in Torrance, California.
I have three younger sisters, all living in California; I am the oldest. I have eight nieces and nephews, and one great nephew. I have a nine year old yellow mix lab, her name is Mason. Mason and I do everything together; camping, gardening, (I plant, she fetches) and she loves running on the beach.
I love to read, travel, and garden. Before back surgery I was an avid snow skier, hiker and backpacker. I like to entertain friends and cook.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree from California State University, Northridge. I received my teaching certificate at California State University, Long Beach and I received my administrative/master’s degree from California State University, Dominquez Hill.
